Paris:  You oughta’ be in pictures!

For about a week in November, 2002, Universal Studios of Los Angeles, California, descended upon historic downtown Paris, which was chosen to portray 1930’s Baltimore for the movie, Seabiscuit.  There were other sites around Bourbon County also used in the movie, as well as hundreds of local people who worked as “extras.”

Paris antique stores were a valuable resource for the makers of Seabiscuit.  The set directors for Universal Studios spent many hours and many thousands of dollars selecting antiques for use on various sets for the movie, both here in Paris, as well as back at the studio in California.  They relied upon the expertise of local antique dealers such as Dan Graham, Janie Callaway, and Lyn Layton to recommend appropriate pieces for the period.  In addition to the purchases for the movie sets, many Universal crewmembers shopped at Paris antique stores on a personal basis.

Paris antiques are famous!
